OwlUp Night Privacy Policy

Welcome to OwlUp Night (the Mainland China App Store name is "熬了么 OwlUp", hereinafter referred to as the "App" or "we/us"). We fully understand the importance of your personal information and process it in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, legitimacy, necessity, and good faith.

Please read this policy carefully before using the App. This policy explains our processing practices; where consent is required, we request it separately at the relevant feature. You may stop using the App or withdraw optional permissions at any time.

I. Scope of Application

This policy applies to our processing of your personal information when you use OwlUp Night and related services through the iOS client.

This policy does not apply to:

• the independent privacy rules of third-party websites, services, or SDKs (we will try to indicate these in this document);
• information collected independently by third parties after you are redirected from the App to third-party pages.

II. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information

We only collect information within the scope necessary to provide functions. Without your consent, we will not enable sensitive capabilities that require authorization (such as location, microphone, motion & fitness, notifications, etc.).

1. Account Registration and Login

Notes:

• For overseas users, Sign in with Apple does not require a mobile phone number. A phone number and SMS verification code are required only in regions where phone/SMS login is offered and when you choose that method.
• When you choose Sign in with Apple, we process the Apple user identifier and identity token to authenticate and associate your account. We process an email address or name only if Apple provides it and you choose to share it; Apple may provide these optional fields only on the first authorization.
• We do not publicly display your internal user ID.

2. "Earth" Map and Late-Night Records

Notes:

• You can disable location permission at any time in system settings.
• Per product design, location stops after the algorithm detects "sustained quiet"; this does not confirm that you are asleep.
• Other users' lights on the map are displayed in anonymized aggregated form; your phone number or real name is not shown to other users.

3. Social Companionship and Sleep Circles

If you actively use the social companionship features, we may process:

The "Share my status anonymously" switch is off by default. When you turn it on, your selected status and city-level information may be included in anonymous companionship displays and tonight's companion count. Turning it off clears the published status and removes you from that count. Social features do not provide unsolicited direct messaging. You can also leave a sleep circle, remove a friend/partner relationship, or leave a challenge. Relationships and related records are deleted or anonymized according to your action. We do not show your exact location, raw audio, phone number, real name, or complete sleep report through social features.

4. Sleep Tracking and Analysis

When you actively enable "Tonight Sleep Tracking" on the Sleep page, we may process:

• Overnight recording begins only during your configured local nighttime window and after you confirm. The default window may vary by region and can be changed in the App.
• Microphone analysis can be disabled. When it is off, estimation relies only on whether the phone itself moves.
• Map location stops at the "sustained quiet" state; this does not confirm that you are asleep. Phone motion sensing and optional on-device spectrum analysis continue until you end the session or the nighttime window ends.
• A bedside phone cannot directly measure your body movement, reliably distinguish awake/light/deep/REM sleep, or identify who is speaking. Elevated sound may come from you, another person, a television, or the environment.
• State labels, possible rest-start time, sound events, and scores are lifestyle estimates and do not constitute medical diagnosis, treatment advice, or sleep-disorder screening.

5. PUPU Assistant

After you separately agree to the "AI Assistant Privacy Notice", we may process:

Third-party note: PUPU conversation capability is provided by large-model services such as Alibaba Cloud Qwen. We send only the text content necessary for conversation to such services and do not send raw microphone recordings. You can clear conversations, reset settings, or fully reset PUPU at "Me -> PUPU & Memory".

6. Subscription and Payment (OwlUP+)

Note: Payments are processed by the Apple App Store. We do not directly collect your bank card number.

To ensure service security and stability, we may collect:

• Device model, OS version, App version;
• Anonymous device identifiers (for abuse prevention and session management);
• Crash logs and API error information (excluding chat content).

III. What We Explicitly Do Not Collect or Upload

Unless otherwise required by law or separately authorized by you, we will not:

• access or upload your contacts, SMS, or call history;
• upload raw microphone recordings (spectrum analysis is local only);
• continuously track your location in the background outside the nighttime window;
• sell your personal information to third parties;
• use your data for third-party targeted advertising (the App currently has no advertising business).

IV. System Permission Notice

You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings -> OwlUp Night.

V. Information Storage and Protection

1. Storage Location

Your account and business data are currently stored on servers in Mainland China (or Mainland China nodes of our service providers). If you use the App elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in Mainland China, and conversation text sent to Alibaba Cloud Qwen may also be processed in its service regions. Where applicable law requires additional transfer safeguards or consent, we will implement them before making the affected processing available.

2. Retention Period

• Account information: retained during your use; after account deletion, identifying profile fields and personal feature data are deleted, while legally required security or financial records are minimized and anonymized where possible;
• Conversation memory: roughly latest 20 turns retained based on your authorization; once cleared, corresponding server content is deleted immediately;
• Sleep/late-night records: retained until account deletion, when server-side reports, analyses, calendar entries, and late-night records are deleted;
• Safety reports: retained as reasonably needed to investigate abuse; reporter identity is removed if the reporter deletes their account;
• Local cache: can be cleared at "Me -> Clear Local Cache" and does not affect cloud account data.

3. Security Measures

We use HTTPS transmission, access control, least-privilege principles, and other measures to protect your information. Despite our best efforts, internet transmission cannot be guaranteed 100% secure. Please properly safeguard your account and verification codes.

VI. How We Share, Transfer, or Publicly Disclose Information

1. Sharing

We only share necessary information in the following scenarios:

We select service providers based on their published terms and security commitments and, where applicable, require appropriate data-protection obligations. Their independent processing remains subject to their own privacy terms.

2. Transfer

We do not transfer your personal information except in cases such as merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy restructuring, where continued compliance with this policy is required.

3. Public Disclosure

We do not publicly disclose your personal information unless we obtain your explicit consent or where required by laws and regulations.

VII. Your Rights

You have the following rights:

1. Access and copy: view your nickname, sleep reports, and more in the App;
2. Correction: update nickname in "Me -> Account Profile";
3. Deletion:

• clear assistant conversations / reset assistant;
• clear local cache;
• delete account ("Me -> Delete Account"), after which we delete or anonymize account data;

1. Withdraw authorization: disable assistant data authorization, disable microphone analysis, or revoke system permissions;
2. Delete account: deletion is irreversible; please proceed with caution.

If you need assistance, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We will respond within 15 business days.

VIII. Protection of Minors

The App is primarily intended for adults. If you are under 18 years old, please read this policy and use the App with your guardian. If a guardian finds that a minor has registered or used the App without consent, please contact us to delete relevant information.

IX. Automated Decision-Making

PUPU generates replies based on your input and authorized sleep/late-night summaries, and does not produce legal or similarly significant impacts solely through automated decision-making. Sleep scores are algorithmic estimations and are not medical conclusions.

X. Policy Updates

We may revise this policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice before they take effect when required. If new consent is required, we will request it separately rather than treating continued use as consent.

Appendix: Definitions

• Personal Information: all kinds of information related to identified or identifiable natural persons recorded electronically or otherwise.
• Sensitive Personal Information: including biometric data, religious belief, medical health data, financial accounts, location traces, etc.; the App processes location and health-related estimated data only when strictly necessary and with your consent.
• Anonymization: processing that makes it impossible to identify a specific natural person and impossible to restore identification.
